Nature!

This week's workshops!

Hello again crafters, thank you for returning to see what this week's workshops have been all about!
As always the title tells all and this week the ladies have been making cards based on nature!
In collaboration with last week;s theme and in hope for sunny weather these two brightly coloured and detailed cards are sure to raise your spirits at least a little :)

So, the first card the ladies made was designed by one of ladies Judy. This card uses acetate in an original way that maybe you wouldn't think of or wouldn't be confident enough to do without seeing the results first.
Also, we've had a new lady join us and she's a beginner, so to prove that these cards can be made by anyone next to each of our cards we're putting a picture of her finished result!

So as per usual we'll take you through a quick guide as to how to make this card:

1. You will need a piece of  6" x 6" cream card. Put this to one side until the end. Next, you will need a piece of cream card 14cm height x 14cm length, this will act as the base of your centre piece.
2. To make the design on the front of the card: First you will need a piece of blue patterned paper 13cm x 6.5cm, matt and layer this onto your cream card, liningit up with the top corners. Next you need a piece of green patterned paper 6cm height x 13cm length. slightly rip one of the 13cm sides of the paper and stick this onto your cream card aswell, matching it up the bottom corners ( the ripped edge at the top). Using a grass stamp (we've used the IndigoBlu Nature 1 Set) stamp onto the middle of your card (using black ink), ensuring that part of the stamp goes onto the blue paper aswell.
3. Next, you need another piece of green patterned paper cut to 13m x 9cm,and using a different grass stamp (we used a stamp form IndigoBlu Wild Meadow), stamp onto the middle of your paper. You then need to cut around the top of your stamped image. Now, stick this piece of paper onto the greena dn blue paper, lining up the bottom corners. Stamp a sentiment of your choice (we used Chloe Stamps) onto your paper wherever you want to (we've stamped ours at the bottom).
4. The next step is optional. You can then add flowers and butterflies using a punch or any other bits and pieces you want onto the card. Make sure you do this before you do the next step!!
5. Now, you need to cut a piece of acetate 14cm height x 16.5cm length, place the acetate landscape and score at 1cm each end. Then, stick one of the 1cm folds to the back of one of the sides of the cream card, then attach the other fold on the back of the other side, ensuring the acetate is in a dome shape.
6.For the finishing touches you can cut out a die that you like, distress it and stick it onto the acetate. We have used a Marianne gate die and distressed it using scattered straw and tea die Distress Inks. And finally Matt and Layer your finished topper to your 6" x 6" cream card.

So, as complicated as that may sound, we assure you that once you get started it becomes a lot easier :) Here are some of the ladies at work!

The next card is an elegant card made by our fabulous Janine! The design is simple yet effective and the ladies really enjoyed making it!

So now we'll take you through how to make this card!
1. For your base card you will need a piece of 42cm length x 15cm width black card(landscape card), place the card landscape and fold it in half so that you have a 21cm x 15cm card.
2. Cut a piece of card of your choice, 14.5cm height x 20.5cm length and matt and layer this onto the front of your card. Then do the same again with a piece of black card 13 cm height x 19.5cm length.
3. Cut yourself two pieces of matching plain paper, 5cm length x 12cm height. Stamp onto these pieces (we have used a Viva decor stamp). Then, matt and layer these either side of your card leaving a 5mm border from the edge. Your middle piece needs to be 7cm height x 5cm length, then cut the bottom as seen in picture. Stick this in the middle of your card, ensuring that when you stick your topper on you will still be able to see the bottom. Stick a topper of your choice onto the middle of the card using 3D pads.
4. You can add extras such as card candi embellishments or anything else to match your toppers to give it that finishing touch!
